A powerful storm system is moving into the region Monday, bringing the potential for severe thunderstorms, damaging winds and tornadoes.

Stacker combed through historical photos and information to showcase the history of Washington, D.C. 100 years ago—in the 1920s.

The group is made up of veterans with years of service representing World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War and even the Global War on Terror.

They measure the buildup of solids on the bottom of the pipe with sonar and try to estimate the corrosion on the top, where hydrogen sulfide gas (a by-product of sewage recognizable by its rotten-egg smell) is eating away at the concrete.
